Canplats was originally incorporated in 1967 as Colby Mines Ltd. The company became Canplats Resources Corporation in 2000 and resumed trading on the TSX Venture Exchange (TSX-V:CPQ) in 2001.
Until 2003, we explored for platinum group metals in the Nipigon region of Ontario, Canada. In February 2003, following the acquisition of a 100% interest in the Rodeo gold prospect in Durango, Mexico we expanded our focus to include the exploration for gold in Mexico. With the subsequent acquisition of the exclusive rights to explore the Yerbabuena propect in the same region, Mexico became our primary focus.
Canplats' management team is comprised of geologists and mining engineers with extensive experience in the exploration, development, financing and operation of both underground and large-scale open pit mines.
